Eyebrow Tips

Your eyebrows are one of the most important features of your face. They can shape the entire look of your face, so it’s best to use extreme care in any beauty regimen specifically targeting the eyebrows. In most cases, specifically for coloring or waxing, it is recommended that you see a professional to at least consult and get advice about what you would like to have done.

Shaping is the most common way that people alter their eyebrows. Tweezing and trimming are the most popular ways to shape the eyebrow as it gives you control and precision over how much to shape. Waxing, while also a popular form of shaping, should really be done by a professional to ensure that you don’t take off more than you should. An important rule of shaping is that less is more and after a few plucks, check a mirror to be sure that you are headed in the right direction. You want to be sure that you are shaping the eyebrows in a way that complements your facial features, so brushing unwanted hairs away from the eyebrow line with a brow brush before you begin is a good place to start. This also gives you an idea of the placement of all of the unwanted hairs.

Start by brushing your eyebrows straight up and if they are too long, trim them. Don’t trim too much because whatever you take off cannot be put back. Trim them with the same conversancy as you would trim split ends on your hair.

Always tweeze from under your eyebrow and tweeze hair in the direction of growth. Always remember to tweeze any stray hairs that clearly are not part of your actual eyebrow. And of course, be sure to take care of the area between your eyebrows. Small hairs often grow there, so using a perspective from each side of your face, pluck the middle hairs as well.

The proper shaping of the eyebrow area can really open up your face and make your eyes stand out. While many people do color their eyebrows, it is not recommended, as the chemicals from the processing can get in your eye and cause serious damage. However, if you insist on coloring your eyebrow, then definitely consult a professional and make an appointment to have it done. Eyebrow coloring is not a do-it-yourself job.
