Facial Types

When you are getting prepared to work with patrons, you must consider the differing facial types of your patrons. In all, there are seven different facial types that patrons have.

Further, the act of determining facial types helps the cosmologist not only determine the appropriate hairstyles for their patrons, but also helps determine applicable cosmetic techniques. Let’s take a look at the seven facial types below:

Oval Facial Type: one of the seven facial types, this facial structure is considered the ideal facial structure as it is the most symmetrical in appearance. The oval facial type gives a patron’s face an appearance of balance and symmetry. Therefore, because the oval facial structure has been idealized, all make-up application on any other facial type is an attempt to create the appearance of an oval facial type.

Pear Shaped Facial Type: The pear-shaped facial type consists of a narrow forehead, a broad jaw-line and a seemingly wide chin. Thus, any cosmetic application aims to create a wider brow and to create a slender appearance in the jaw-line and chin.

The Long Facial Type: The long facial type consists of a long, narrow face with somewhat hollow looking cheeks. Thus, cosmetic applications are directed at establishing a broader width to the face, while at the same time drawing attention away from the lengthy appearance of the face.

The Square Facial Type: Patrons that have a square facial type possess a straight forehead and hairline as well as a seemingly square jaw. Thus, cosmetic applications are directed at creating the illusion of slenderness—an attempt at rounding the appearance of the facial structure.

The Heart Shaped Facial Type: Patrons with a heart-shaped face possess a seemingly wide forehead and a narrow chin. Therefore, cosmetic applications are aimed at reducing the width of the forehead and bringing an illusion of width to the chin.

The Round Facial Type: Not to be mistaken for those individuals with an oval facial type, patrons with a round face have both a round hairline and a round chin. Thus, cosmetic applications are directed at slenderizing the appearance of the entire face.

The Diamond Facial Type: Patron’s with a diamond facial type possess a narrow appearing forehead, wide cheekbones, and a narrow chin. Thus, cosmetics are applied in an effort to broaden the forehead a bit, to narrow the appearance of the cheekbones, and to bring just a bit of width to the chin.
